About Us

Kambo organization is a Non Governmental Organization that was formed in the 2023 with many futuristic and present aims of improving the welfare, ,mental health and livelihoods of Persons with Special Needs . The organization founder is Julius Makambo who is also a Person With Special Needs , the founder envisioned starting up the initiative to extend help to PWSNs in all districts of Uganda.

The dream of starting Kambo came from the help that the founder also received growing up in a donor funded school helping people with Special Needs .Its upon that background that Julius’ heart was driven towards creating a special purpose vehicle to create better futures for PWSNs.

As Kambo we are streamlined on five (5) thematic areas that is

Education
Skilling and retooling
Social economic transformation
Advocacy and
Gender equality

Kambo exists to create a unified voice of Persons with Disabilities to advocate for equalization of opportunities, involvement, and participation in policy influence, planning and implementation of disability programs in close co-operation with Government, Not for profit organizations and other field players in the Humanitarian field.

Kambo strategy is premised on three themes: Institutional capacity strengthening, Policy influence, Socioeconomic empowerment and Social protection of Persons with Disabilities. It is contextualized to the needs of Persons with Disabilities, opportunities and capacities existent in the disability ecosystem in Uganda.

As Kambo Organization we are premised on the narrative that Disability is not inability. Therefore we envision breaking barriers for People with Special Needs . This initiative has been established to help communities , work together to better respond to the needs of People with Special Needs in Uganda. This was established to achieve improved livelihoods and quality of projects for People with Special Needs in both the local and urban settings of Uganda .
